You Are a Blessing...

Happy New Year! I haven't posted in forever because my regular camera isn't working right. It keeps shutting off, even if it has fresh batteries. I got it Christmas 2005, so it's had a long life. It's a Kodak Z740, which is no longer made. I don't know what camera to get to replace it. I take pictures with my phone, but getting them off the phone to edit is not as easy as one would hope. The numbering system is really convoluted (in my humble opinion) and I can only upload one at a time to my editing program. Because it's not very convenient to get them off the phone to edit them, I simply haven't done it.

Today, I thought I'd try my camera again to see if it was working better after a long rest. I managed to snap one photo before it shut off. One is better than none, right?! Btw, I mention my issue to my husband and he thinks the batteries are the issue. We use rechargables and they are most likely getting old. We'll try buying some new ones and see it that helps. (fingers crossed)

I didn't have to go to work yesterday and had high hopes that I could get a few cards made while it was quiet in the house. I sincerely tried, but I think I'm pretty rusty at cardmaking now. I attempted one card 4 different times and each one ended up in the trash. I smudged the stamping each time. Don't ask me how. It was a simple card idea, I promise, but it just wasn't working out for me. Jennifer McGuire makes it look SO easy! :) So, I scrapped that card idea and tried a different one.

Success!

I used some NBUS from My Favorite Things. Geometric Greenery, Geometric Grid background stamp and a stitched rectangle die. Here's how it turned out.

After the frustration with the first four attempts, I'm very happy with the end result of this one! I colored in the leaf with some Johanna Basford alchol markers I bought at Michaels a few months ago. I went over it with my Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle marker. It's fussy cut out.

Really simple, which is fine by me. My first card of 2017! Yay! Hopefully more to follow in the not too distant future. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by...if you are still meandering this way, that is.
Hugs,
Jeanne

How wonderful to wake up to a blog post from you Jeanne. Your card is so beautiful. I love he CAS design and how you've showcased that leaf image so beautifully. And I'm sure adding that glitter pen over top just kicked everything up a notch.

Sorry to hear about your camera. Hopefully fresh batteries will help. But at least it did give you one photo so that's good news.

I'm glad you were able to get into the craft room yesterday and am sorry to hear that card making was giving you troubles. Some days are just like that but I'm glad you persevered.

Stay warm and if you have Monday off, enjoy the long weekend. Hugs!

The colours are so pretty Jeanne! And I love the added sparkle over the beautiful geometric leaf.

Taking photos is hard enough IF your camera is working. I feel your pain. Hopefully it will be a simple fix of adding new batteries and you'll be gleefully clicking away soon. xx

Ugh! Camera issues are the worst! But...I am glad you were able to capture one good shot! Your card is super cute! The clean and simple design is striking and the color palette is perfect for Winter.

Glad to see you posting again!

Hugs,
Barb :)

Hi Jeanne! Isn't it difficult to have "camera issues"?!?! I have a real camera somewhere, but my I-phone takes good photos and I almost always have it in my pocket. It is definitely easier to use and get photos off of. When I'm at home where my cell phone, Mac-mini, and I-pad are all using the same wi-fi they seem to hare photos magically. (Cloud?) I guess that was partly why I insisted on replacing my old I-phone with another one.

But enough about my camera woes... The card is very interesting. I love the stained glass nature of the leaf. The balance, color, and stitch details add a lot! It's a nifty card! I'm glad to see it now because I've been playing a lot with markers and color effects. Thanks for inspiration! Hugs!

Seems Blogger is disappearing my comments, Jeanne ... bad blogger!! I'll try again. It's great to see you back ... Happy New Year ... hope your 2017 is blessed with joy, good health and creativity! Your card is gorgeous ... that vibrant, shimmery leaf is beautifully framed with the stitched edges! Camera ... I had the same issue, so yes, trying new rechargeables ... did the trick for mine perfectly! Hugs, Anita :)

Well first off let me just say that your card is beautiful! Those colors are right up my alley! I love that graphic style leaf and the simplicity! I'm so glad to see you posting again, but sorry to hear about your camera. I do hope that it's just the batteries and maybe that will solve the problem. Sorry to hear you've had a time with your card making. I think you're just rusty and need to get in that craft room more often. Easier said than done right! ;) Have a wonderful week my friend!

Hi Jeanne! I'm so glad to hear from you. I love your card, it's beautiful. And I think I have to agree with your husband about replacing the old rechargeable batteries. I never had much luck with rechargeables in my camera. Cameras really suck the life out of batteries. LOL Love and Hugs, Tamara

I have to say to heck with Jennifer M! Jeanne T is a fabulous designer all on her own!!! Seriously! I love this sweet card, colored and shined and balance and with a beautiful sediment! I'm so glad you persevered and I hope you can do it more often now!

I'm so sorry you were THAT close to posting the same day as my surprise challenge. Now you just HAVE to get back in there and create!

I hope the new charger solves your camera problems. We, too, have to practically stand on our heads to get pictures off the phone ever since we got Windows 10. My camera is a little point-and-shoot Panasonic.

Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

My visit is really, really late ... there's something so quick and, well INSTANT about Instagram - but I fully intended to come by!!
Hopefully you've got that camera battery situation fixed, and we'll be seeing more of these beauties from you SOON!
Your use of that [much desired] stitched framing is awesome - draws the eye right in to your block colored leaf.
YOU are a blessing to all of our lives, Jeanne! Now get back in there, champ!
