Hi there!
Well, I wish I made some cards just for fun, but unfortunately, I found myself in need of sympathy cards. My lifelong friend's father passed away. He and his wife had been married for 54 years! What a remarkable achievement. He had a good life, but is gone too soon.
I was inspired to make this card from one made by Kay Miller
The following card might be a little bright, but I feel it still fits. I cased this one on Clips-n-Cuts
I actually made a third one, but I neglected to take a picture of it! Darn.
It looked a lot like this one. :)
I also made this birthday card. I saw this design somewhere, but cannot find it right now.
My girls and I actually went to California to attend the funeral. It was the very first time my girls had been there and the first time I'd been back "home" in fifteen years. We spent a long weekend. My dad was thrilled (well, except for the reason we went). The service was lovely and a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man.
The highlight of the trip was going to the beach. There was no way we were going to be in CA and not go to the beach. My mom took us kids every Wednesday during summer break when I was growing up. She would drive us through Topanga Canyon, for those of you who might know that route. We used to go to Santa Monica beach, but it's gotten to be such a tourist area, my brother thought it'd be more fun(less crowded) to head to Zuma beach. He was right. We did drive home on Topanga Canyon, though. :)
And look! We saw dolphins! (I asked the lifeguard to be absolutely certain). I've never seen dolphins when at the beach. There were about 6 of them swimming along the shoreline. They'd move out of our sight line and then they came back. I was thrilled to capture them in photos. So cool!
Thanks so much for stopping by.
I truly appreciate the visit.
I hope you are having a good day.
The Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics are tonight. Are you going to watch?
Hugs,
Jeanne

Hi Jeanne,
What a collection of great cards!! I especially love the bright hugs card! I believe a funeral should be a celebration of life not death. I know whoever received this was touched!
So sorry your trip was for a sad reason but what a blessing to get to spend time with your family in such a beautiful setting!! I bet your lifelong friend was comforted by you being there!
Have a great weekend!!

Jeanne, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's father's passing. She must have been deeply touched that you traveled to be with her, to offer your incredible support and compassion. She is blessed to have you in her life, especially during such a sad, heart-breaking time. I agree: both your sympathy cards 'fit' the occasion. The butterflies are gorgeous; the pretty flowers and big 'hug' are spirit-lifting. Your birthday card: oh my stars! Your gift-bearing turtle is utterly adorable! Fabulous background for the little dude, too! Aside from the reason you had to go to CA, your trip sounds fantastic! A chance to rekindle memories of your childhood trips to the beach and make new ones with your girls. And seeing dolphins? In the wild? Way tooooo cool! THANK YOU yet again for visiting my blog! My smiles...mega watt! You are such a treasure!
Hugs~c
Wonderful cards, they are both perfect. Sometimes a little color helps cheer, too. I'm not sure sometimes who needs the cheering up most - but I'm sure it could help both you and the receiver.
The beach photos are delightful - dolphins?! Wow!!! I'm glad the girls got to enjoy this family tradition. It gives them a memory to hold with the stories they undoubtedly hear.
Hugs!!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's Dad, Jeanne ... she must have so appreciated you going to California to be with her at such a difficult time ... and with your lovely cards, they're gorgeous. Whilst it was a sad reason to go, it must also have been a wonderful chance for your girls to follow in your footsteps ... reliving old memeories and making new ones! How magical to see dolphins! Hugs, Anita :)
I'm sorry about the passing of your friend's Dad. I'm sure your sympathy card was well received. How nice that you were able to visit California and see your dad, despite the circumstances.
And what a treat to see three cards from you. I love the soft feel of the butterfly card and how vibrant your hugs card is. Those flowers are just beautiful. Lastly, your birthday card is just too cute. I love the alternating yellow and green stripes on it and the stitched background details.
And thanks for sharing us the beach photos -- how nice that you were able to see dolphins -- very cool that you were able to see dolphins.
I hope you have a great weekend and have been enjoying our cooler weather!
Oh my! Where do I start? These are all amazing! Thank you so much for mentioning me on the first card! It's gorgeous! You did an outstanding job CASEing mine! The second card really blew me away! Your blending is so pretty and those flowers...gasp!... the are stunning! So beautifully colored! I just love it! Seriously!! The little turtle with the watercolor stripes is totally adorable too! How cute is that? You're on a roll! So glad that you and the girls got to go to the beach. The pictures are fabulous! And how nice that you found a little niche that wasn't so crowded. Glad you're home now too :) Happy week ahead!
Oh Jeanne! I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's dad. You have, however, created two very lovely sympathy cards. Of course, I love the butterflies, so soft and serene. But, I am completely smitten with card #2! The colors are just beautiful!
I'm glad you and the girls were able to visit the beach while in CA! We've had some blazing hot days! It's always fun when a pod of dolphins makes an appearance. It's so cool that you were able to see them. :)
