Christmas Cards Inspired by Kristie Marcotte

Hello!

Oh my gosh, it's been SO long since I posted here. I used to be so good at blogging. I've let it get away from me. I wouldn't be surprised if people quit checking this little spot on the internet. My intentions are good, but life sure has a way of getting in the way. I hope this finds you doing well.

My mother-in-law loved that we showed up for her birthday party way back in August and she loved the hummingbird picture I cross stitched for her. Yay!

Got home from that and school started for the girls. I have a junior and a freshman this year and both are in marching band. Once marching season starts my life is not my own. LOL In positive news, the band made it to the state quarterfinals competition. They performed at the Air Force Academy football stadium. While they didn't advance, they had a marvelous time.

We adopted a dog in early September. His name is Ollie and he is a rascal. He's got cute going for him, and we'll leave it at that.

I have had to work some extra hours recently, which sure puts a crimp in creative time. And over my Thanksgiving break I started working on organizing my stamps better. I moved the stamps and dies to clear pockets like Jennifer McGuire has done. That was a job!

I have been able to make some cards over these past months, but haven't always gotten photos before giving them away or haven't posted here.

Today though, I have decided to dust off the bloggo and share something!

Several months ago I discovered a blogger named Kristie Marcotte. She has a blog and a YouTube channel. What intrigued me the most is she shares cards she makes using a 6x6 paper pad and sketches. Not only that, she shares how she makes them on You Tube. She is able to get 30+ cards from one 6x6 pad (along with solid cardstock). I remember back in the day when I was a Close to My Heart consultant, we'd have patterns to get 10 or 12 cards from a 12 x 12 sheet of pattern paper, stamps and cardstock. But more than 30?! Wow!

I have many 6x6 pads that I don't utilize near enough. This seems like a great way to USE up some of my stash!

So in the fall I tried it and loved the cards I made. I didn't get photos of them and have since used several of them. It was fabulous having a ready stash. Over the past few week or so I've been following her Milk & Cookies (Doodlebug) tutorial and while I didn't get 30+ cards from the pad (due to cutting errors on my part), I did make 19 cards and that's pretty cool! I had one full piece left and several small pieces, so I know I can make a few more cards from the pad if I want to. For a second time doing this, I think I did pretty well.

Here's the post where she shares the individual cards and sketches she used.

And here are my versions. You can click on the photos to see them larger.
I've been buying up some new tools and supplies due to some great sales recently.
And thanks to Kristie's inspiration. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! I sure appreciate the visit.

Have a great week.
Hugs!
Jeanne

OMGSH Jeanne - your cards are so delightful! I am wowed especially by the quilt cards - what a great way to show off the different papers that actually look great together!

I was in marching band (and symphonic) in school and loved every minute! What an honor to perform at the Air Force Academy! That was an event to remember!! As for Ollie - I hope you'll post a photo of the Rascal/CutiePie! Is he a puppy? (Hoping he'll outgrow the rascal part!)

Hugs to you all!

Yayyy...how wonderful that you've dusted off your blog and shared some of your behind-the-scenes creations with us! They are absolutely lovely - such an inventive way to use patterned papers - and the fact that you designed 19 blows me away! Glad I don't have to choose a favourite; they're all delights! Supporting your girls, organizing your craft room, cross-stitching, working extra hours: you've got one heaping plate of busy-ness! As for us not visiting? No way! Whether you post frequently or occasionally, we're here!!
Thank you a bazillion times over for always visiting my blog and leaving the sweetest of comments! Said it before and will say it again: you are a TREASURE
Hugs and love,
~c

Great to see you back, Jeanne ... and with so many marvellous, bright, happy, festive cards ... you've mixed and matched the patterns and colours so wonderfully ... each one is fabulous! I'm especially taken with the quilted ones ... brilliantly composed ... and so eyecatching! Sounds as though you're enjoying all the busy-ness ... even when it means you have less time to craft! We're here when you have chance to share! Hugs, Anita :)

Jeanne, you did a fabulous job! It looks like you have been making cards from 6x6 paper pads for years, rather than only two times. You are a very talented crafter. And even though you followed my tutorial, I love your own personal touches for every card, making them very unique. Thank you so much for the shout out. Have a wonderful day!

Oh WOW Jeanne, these are all so beautiful. What a neat idea to get so many cards out of a pack of patterned paper. I especially love the quilted look of the bottom two.

I'm sorry it took me so long to come over and comment. Hope you are having a wonderful day. Hugs!
