A Couple of Cards…

I was able to work on a few cards recently and thought I’d share. I picked up some Papercrafts magazines that were released recently to help jumpstart any mojo that might still be lurking somewhere.

This first card was inspired by a card I saw in a magazine.

You just use a square punch and round off some corners. I added the idea to emboss the background piece. The sentiment is Mixed Messages from Papertrey Ink and I added a couple of little silver gems. The embossing folder is Paper Studio brand from Hobby Lobby. I used Heavenly Blue and Crystal Blue cardstock from Close To My Heart. Oh and all the rounded squares are lifted with pop dots.

As part of a gift exchange with Steve’s family, I received this Spellbinders die set from his nephew. I wanted to send him a thank you using what he gave me. I had no idea how carefully you had to remove the cut shapes after you cut them. I’ve got a few torn practice efforts in the trash can. I like the intricate cuts, though.

Okay, I’m going to hit publish and see what happens. I’ve been trying to post a blog I wrote several days ago about the doll clothes I’ve been making, but for some reason, it won’t publish. It’s even timed out while trying to publish. I don’t know if it’s Live Writer or operator error.

Thankful Cards

Hi There and Happy Friday to you!

This week somehow got away from me and I didn't get to create nearly as much as I wanted to. I was able to finish up some cards today, though, and thought I'd share them with you.

This first card is pretty much a complete case of this one on Just4Fun2. I saw it way back in September. I really liked the wreath, but thought (foolishly) that I could recreate the wreath with stamps I own, or digital stamps. Um, not so. I didn't have any leaf images that I thought would work well (what's up with that?), so I put in on the back burner. But I couldn't get the card out of my mind, so I caved and bought the digital image here.(big cave, it's all of $2)There are some really neat images in this shop, but I just bought the one. I could so do some damage to my wallet, but with the holidays coming up, I am being good (sort of. If I was really good, I'd not be getting anything, ha, ha)

Anyway, I really, really liked Pat's card and didn't change it up much. I just used colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits instead of markers. It was kind of fun trying to blend the colors. My intention was to have the cross stitching the same as Pat's too, but I poked the holes on the leaf paper on the wrong side! Had I kept it, the little acorns would have been upside down. Oops. So, maybe that is my different take on the card. LOL It's harder to see than I thought it would be, but the sentiment is stamped right onto the Amber Autumn (DCWV) cardstock. I used that Hero Arts Happy Thanksgiving set for the sentiment.

I wanted to use the same Hero Arts set for another card and this is what I came up with. My inspiration was this card on Lea's Cupcakes and Sunshine blog (yes, I am stretching, it doesn't look much like my inspiration). I really liked the design. But again, I don't have leaf stamps that I felt would work(I'm surprised that I don't own smallish leaf images) But, I didn't cave and get the stamp set she used (again, trying to be good). I think it came out pretty nice for a clean and simple card.

Did you notice I put my name on the pictures? It's been a long time since I've done that. Maybe I'm a lazy blogger, but I don't edit my pictures (maybe I should, but I think my camera takes pretty decent shots). I don't always feel like opening up my PSE 7 to just put on a watermark. And Windows Live Writer no longer works for me. But I have this program that I got a long time ago for editing videos (when I thought I'd be creating more of them-hardy har har). It used to open up every time I stuck my photo card in the reader. I would just hit cancel when the pop up came up. Then it quit opening up. Just this week it started opening up again(sometimes computers are so hit and miss). And I hit cancel. But then....I wondered (for some bizarre random reason) if I could open up the pictures in this program to add my name to the picture. Lo and behold, it worked! Yay, I can put my name on my creations again, and it is fairly quick and painless. 

That font is called Kathleen, and I honestly don't remember where I got it. I liked how it looks like that script typewriter font from when I was a lot younger...anyone remember those? Yes, I realize I'm totally dating myself now, but I loved the look of reports typed with that font...always wished we owned one like it. LOL Yes, I used to type up school reports on a manual, then an electric typewriter. I was in high school when my dad brought home our first computer. It used DOS. Ugh, I hated it. I had so much trouble getting it to work. It was faster for me to type on the typewriter, so I preferred to do my reports that way. Ahhhh, you youngsters (and my kids) have it so much easier now, in terms of technology. 

And just so you know, I walked to school, uphill, both ways, in the snow. LOL (never mind that I grew up in Southern California...phffffft

Boatload of Bread and A Few More Cards...

Hi there!

I'm happy to report that we were able to attend Math Night last night and I didn't miss a minute of the finale of America's Got Talent. *Ü* Steve even got to do his regular "old man's workout" with his buddy Dave, too! The school had scheduled two sessions for the evening, so that parents could attend a session per child. I got to thinking, after my post, that each of us could attend a single session for each girl and be done sooner. Steve was quite agreeable. So, we were finished much earlier than I earlier thought. And as a super special bonus, the parent teacher group has been holding a raffle of baskets full of educational fun stuff as a way of raising money for the group. Of course, the girls want to enter. Well, we found out (after we left) that Amy's name was drawn as a winner of one of the baskets! I'm not sure what all was in it, yet. I'll see it when I pick her up from school today. I'd call last evening a success all around. And, it was a pure treat to see the expression on the winner's face at the end of the show last night.

Now, onto the boatload of bread part of my title. In my continual quest to shop frugally, I remembered today to actually GO to the Oroweat bakery outlet not too far from our house. And I was SO glad I did! Look at all this bread I picked up:

The Italian bread is a recent find from the grocery store. I'm sure it's always been there, but I hadn't paid attention until I tried a recipe where it called for that type of bread. It sure is yummy and the girls have chosen it for the sandwiches they want in their lunch. I got both of the loaves for less than the price I paid for a single loaf! The Rye bread is a treat for Steve ($1.39) and the sourdough loaf is a treat for me (99cents). The Thins (next to the bagels) we haven't tried because they are at least $2.50 in the store, here 99cents, great price to at least try them! In fact, the rest of the items were 99 cents a piece. I got one of the muffins free for spending over $7. Grand total spent: $8.64 with tax! Can't get this stuff in the store for anywhere near that amount! The muffins alone went up to almost $3.50 a package a week or so ago. I was so doing the happy dance after that visit  (quite possibly almost skipped out to the van) and you can be sure I'll remember to go regularly.

And now, onto the cards. This first one is my re-try at sewing. I opted not to do a zig-zag as the image is large and I decided it would look too busy. This is Sparkle's super sweet Swimming Ruby image. I lurve it!

And...true confession time...I had a little extra birthday money and I picked up a couple of Copic markers at Hobby Lobby with it. One color is E00 I think...a skin color. I also got a light gray and a light blue for going around the images when I use markers to color. The other markers used on the card are either Bic Mark-its or Sharpies. I'm really happy with how the coloring turned out!

As you can see I DID try the zig-zag on this next card. My friend, Kari gave me the tip to practice first on a different piece of cardstock. Slap me upside the head, I didn't even think to do that yesterday. Thanks, Kari!

The image is one that Kathi sent me a long time ago. I've been hoarding them, but you know what? I decided to just go for it and colored up a bunch of images last Sunday while watching the Broncos game. Again, I used markers on this image. I'm so glad I didn't mess it up, though. I pulled out the Nesties, oval and Labels One.

Thinking of You and Thanks So Much Cards

Happy Wednesday to you! 

Today, after I did a little housework, I decided to work on some cards. I'm sharing two of them, but I made three. I sewed on the third one I made, but decided that I really need to go back and try again with the sewing as I think it looks horrible (Methinks zig zag stitching and I don't get along too well). I just didn't have time to go back and do it again today.

I was completely enamored with the card Barb shared today on The Buzz. And I decided to case it, but with my own little twist. For my birthday, my friend, Kelly, sent me a Michael's gift certificate and my brother, Jim, sent me a check. I combined the two to purchase the Cindy Loo Cricut cartridge (on sale, whoohooo). I wanted to use it in my thank yous. This is what I came up with for Kelly.

I used DCWV's Linen Closet paper and a bit of Twilight ink (CTMH). I finally got to use some of the lace I picked up in Sioux Falls. Adding the little pearls finished the look I was after, I hope.

This next card is my version of one I saw on Pat's Just4Fun2 blog here. I really like how the black pops off the white.

I used a Hero Arts stamp and some ribbon from my stash that I purchased at Michaels a long time ago. The Thinking of You is from a Verve set. I originally stamped the sentiment onto the card, but wouldn't you know, I stamped it crooked! So, I covered up the boo-boo.

I was kind of bummed when I realized I needed to clean up for the day and go pick up the girls.

Oh well, I know I can go back to it another day...maybe tomorrow??

Do any of you watch America's Got Talent? Tonight is the finale, where they will announce the winner. I've really enjoyed it all season. That talent has been super and varied for sure. All 4 of the acts in the running are very, very good. I suspect the 10 year old opera singer might win as she has an absolutely gorgeous voice. She sang Ave Maria (spelling?) and gave me goosebumps. Up until last night, I thought Prince Poppycock might take it all, but I do believe he blew it on his final performance. Michael Grimm, who sings jazz/blues, is also very, very good. He sang great last night. Fighting Gravity has such a unique act, too. I can't imagine how one goes about selecting a favorite because their talents are all truly unique. I hope I don't miss the finale. They are starting it one hour earlier and wouldn't you know, we have a school function to go to that ends at the time the show starts!  I don't have a DVR and our VCR doesn't work well, either. I'm sure they won't announce the winner until the very end, so I shouldn't miss that part.

Thank You, Some Flowers and a Doily!

Happy Friday to you! I hope you are ready to have a lovely weekend. We've got some plans this weekend, or rather the girls do and I'll be playing chauffeur. LOL We are going to the school for the rescheduled movie night that got cancelled due to snow a month or so ago. They are showing Up, which we've not seen. Tomorrow Jessica has a birthday party to go to and on Sunday, I just found out, she has a Daisy outing. They will be cleaning up trash at a nearby nature trail. Whew! LOL

I took the day off from cleaning and did a little crafty stuff. Yay!

First, I have to share this gorgeous thank you card that I received from Christi at Blessings on Paper. You may remember the surprise blog hop party we had for her back in January. Yes, I know it's April, but believe me, ANY card from Christi is well worth waiting for. *Ü*

She was so sweet to use one of the flowers I crocheted for her. Isn't this a beauty?? Thanks, Christi!

You can see a sneaky peek at what I picked up today, or rather the finishing touches. I picked up a wire container holder, for lack of  the proper terminology at the thrift store recently. You can fit 6 pots in it. When Michaels has their big sale a weekend or so ago, I found terracotta pots that fit perfectly on sale, so I nabbed them. Today I found some flowers at the dollar store that I liked and I filled the pots.

Nice and happy! Not too shabby for just a few dollars out of pocket!

Next up, remember that covered cheese holder I used to display my beaded eggs for Easter? Well, I mentioned I wanted to crochet a doily to fit inside. I just finished up the doily this afternoon. So, I've got to show you, right?

I'm thrilled that it fits perfectly! Of course, I need something to display, right? Well, for now I'm using this:

I thought the butterfly box was adorable, and fifty percent off, so it cost all of 64 cents. LOL Once I find something better to display, I'll just set the butterfly out on display but until then, this is kind of happy. I can't stand it upright because it's thismuch too tall to fit the cover. Drat.

Thanks and Wish...

I got a package in the mail yesterday and said something about an order I'd placed. Um...I hadn't placed any orders and I didn't even recognize the company! I carefully opened the box, just in case I was going to have to return what I didn't order and when I peeked inside, I started doing the giddy girly dance. You know the one where you jump from foot to foot on your tippy toes and clap your hands in glee? Well, that was me. You see, this was from two very special young boys named Bjorn and Mathias, who have a very, very special grandma named Kathi. I have a birthday coming up on Monday and Kathi, I mean the boys, got me the Hero Arts Dots and Flowers background stamp! I've mentioned it in a previous post (I think I said I was too cheap to buy it) and have had serious stamp envy when Kathi's posted cards using her Dots and Flowers background stamp.

It was just the ticket to get me to go out into my craft room and break it in! Wanna see?

I used one of Kathi's cards as the starting off point for my card. Because I don't have that adorable owl, I took things in a different direction. I recently discovered a blog called Scrap a Little! Erin, of Inky Smiles, told me about these lovely cardstock roses she found and there was a tutorial on how to make them! I knew I had to try them out. And decided to make one for my card today. I used my Cricut and George cartridge to cut the hearts needed, only mine is the original Cricut and it doesn't cut all the same sizes. So I had to adjust a smidge with the sizes I have available. But it was easy peasy to put the rose together. When I finished though, I thought the rose was WAY too big to fit the card well, so I took off the largest hearts layer. I think it still looks nice and the size works better. I don't know if you can see it well, but I sprayed some Glimmer Mist (Iridescent Gold) on the rose as well. Oh and you'll have to look closely, but I added a dot with my Desert Sand marker, then I went over it with a Sakura glitter pen. I used the same pen to draw lines on the Colonial White piece.

I then got to work making another card. This one was inspired this one created by Sarah of Sarah's Paper Tray. I came across some glittery clear embossing powder by Stampendous and decided to try it and see how it would look. I like it, although it's hard to photograph. LOL I've long admired the cards I've seen where the dandilion fluff image is used. Earlier this summer or maybe late spring, I found a clear stamp set called Fine and Dandy (by Autumn Leaves) at Michaels (the concept store in Brighton) and thought it would work great.

I like how this one came out, too. I guess I am in a glittery mood today as I used the same Sakura glitter pen on this card (on the scalloped piece and in the focal image dandilion). A month or so ago, I discovered Michaels was carrying those teeny tiny mini brads and I picked up a couple of packages. It's the Recollections brand. I finally broke open the package today. I used a ruler to try to get my holes all lined up straight, but it must have slipped a tad. Oh well. The wish sentiment seemed to fit just perfectly. I didn't want to use the whole swirl on the image, so I inked the stamp up and then scotch taped off the area of the image I didnt' want to use. Had I been thinking ahead, I might have stamped the entire image first, then the dandilions and you could see it peek through, but that would be too clever on my part. LOL

Hindsight is 20/20, right?

A Couple of Cards...

Happy Monday to you! I hope you enjoyed a lovely summer's day. It was close to 90 here and not a storm in sight for the past few days. Yippeee! I guess we were on track for having the wettest June on record, but with no severe weather slated for the next few days, we might not break the record afterall.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments about the birthday goodies. I'm glad you liked what I shared. You can see the evidence of why I love blogs so much in the discovery of the brownie hamburgers and fries. LOL

Here's the card I just finished making today that we will use for Amy's thank yous.

The flip flops are an EK Success punch and it actually punches out one sandal part and one thong part. Then I glued the pieces together using a quickie glue pen. I had thoughts of putting some glitter or something on the thong part, but it's pretty small and my fingers are pretty fat, so I figured I'd mess it up for sure if I did that. The rest of it is pretty straightforward. The only thing you might not be able to tell is that I used pop dots on the circle piece and the crocheted flower. The cardstock is CTMH's Orange and Watermelon. The pattern paper is from K&Co's Berry Sweet pack. The "thanks" is from PTI's Mixed Messages set. I inked the edges with Watermelon and stamped the thanks with Topiary ink (CTMH). I used Swiss Dots and D'Vine embossing folders in my Cuttlebug.
Here's a sweet shot of Amy working on a beading project (after slip 'n sliding with Jessica just before she sat down. One of her gifts was a set of 10,000 beads. Yes, 10,000 and most of them are small. Yes, she's spilled some of them already and enlisted my help in picking them up...those babies can roll! LOL She made some bracelets and anklets (extra large bracelets that we discovered fit the ankle area perfectly) and thoroughly enjoyed herself. If you look in the lower right corner of the shot, you'll see part of another birthday gift. It was a Barbie Top Chef set. It comes with a sink area that has studio lights, a fridge (with food for the fridge) a camera and a Barbie. Both girls have been having a ton of imaginitive fun with this set, too.

Finally, here's another card I worked on yesterday, but didn't finish until today.
The image is a digi stamp from Squigglefly called Floral Frenzy. I was inspired by this first card on Holly's Hog Wild About Stamping blog. Actually, I really like the second card, too. *Ü* Anyway, I colored it yesterday and then ran out of time to finish it. I am not 100% convinced the paper I used (from DCWV's Citrus stack) is the right choice, but it sure beats the first paper I selected. LOL. The ribbon is CTMH's Orange organdy. Simple, but sweet, no?

Steve picked up a used bike trailer (the things you hook on the back of your bike and pull little kids in) over the weekend. He found it on Craig's List, I guess. Anyway, Amy has been having a blast pulling Jessica around in it. Today they wanted to ride bikes to swim class and lunch, so we did. Jessica rode in the trailer and Amy pulled her on her bike. She did a GREAT job! I was impressed at her endurance. We took a different route home and while it was an easier, less hilly, ride, the sidewalks were pretty narrow and I was afraid the trailer would tip over. So I took over the pulling and we made it home in fine fashion. I'm not sure we'll do that again with Jess in the trailer. We'll see.

Final Teacher Gift Wrap-Up

I spent the morning working on this project (I had to make 3 of each). I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out. I went round and round in my head about how best to wrap up the gifts and ended up with your basic bag. I was going to decorate it all up, but what I was seeing in my head was not translating well to paper.  Oh well. I think simple is good, too. And the teachers can re-use the bags if they want. *Ü*

My inspiration for the card came from Nichole Heady’s post here (scroll down just a bit). I used the Teacher’s Apple set (such an awesome set for this purpose), Polka Dot Basics and the little apple from the Limitless Labels set. I used some brads from Hobby Lobby’s Spare Parts line, some hemp from CTMH, some ribbon from my stash and Nestabilities, Label One dies. The colors are Holiday Red, Garden Green, Olive, & Chocolate. I used just a bit of Kraft cardstock, too.

Happy Saturday to you! I hope you are having a great day. My mojo seems to have returned, which I am quite happy about. Before I show you what I made today, though, I want to share this absolutely beautiful card I received from Christi of Blessings on Paper.

 

The photo does not do the card justice I can tell you that. All the colors work together so perfectly. The flower is made from felt and there's glitter on the background paper. I love the image, the coloring, the border punch, the ribbon and the button. Heck, I love every single thing about this card. I feel honored to have received it. Thank you, Christi! You made my day! Wow! I wish you could see this in person!

I will share my cards in a separate post, because this beauty deserves to stand alone!

I don't have details of the products used, except I know the border punch is from EK Success. It's one of the new ones that they put out at Michaels.

Metallic Embroidered Thanks Card

Happy Thursday to you! One more day til the weekend...yea!

I've been working on this card for a few days (when I could steal away from working on the dresses) and finally got it done today. It's not that it was so hard, just took time. I got the pattern from a book called Basics of Embroidery on Paper by Erica Fortgens. After I did the stitching, it took me a little while to figure out just what to do with it! Here's what I came up with...

I chose to use some metallic cardstock I had called, Gilded Rust, by the Paper Company. I picked it up at Archiver's with one of my 5 free sheets of cardstock coupons. The photo corners are from Joann's, they just clearanced out the line and I don't have the packaging anymore. I think it was called Memory Boutique. The center is a button from Joann's with the shank clipped off. I found some metallic DMC embroidery floss and have been itching to try it out. This took quite a bit of it! LOL There are lots of pieces of tape on the back side of this focal piece!

Overall, it's a simple straightforward card. In the book, this pattern was with the Christmas designs. I liked the "flower" that appears in the center and thought it would work for a card not Christmas-y in theme.

Believe it or not, I'm already working on another Barbie outfit! That I already have the top done lets you know that it is not nearly as intense as the Puff dress was. hee, hee. Maybe sometime today I'll finish the bottoms and will be able to share. If not...it'll happen tomorrow, I'm sure.

In family news, Amy lost another tooth last night. Now, in and of itself, this is not terribly exciting or out of the ordinary. However, the tooth that finally came out is one that has been loose for a good year or two. Amy is notorious for bonking herself and has hit her chin or that tooth a number of times. In fact, her dentist told me over a year ago, that the root was calcified and to have her avoid chewing with the thing for fear it would come out too soon and mess up the position of the other adult teeth. Amy got so good at chewing from the sides of her mouth that she rarely worked this one! She's lost 6 other teeth before this one, losing one just this past weekend. When I went in to wake her up this morning she grinned her usual sleepy grin at me and I noticed the gap! It apparently just fell out while she was sleeping (or so she said). She couldn't find it at first, but she had been laying on it. I told her it must have happened after the Tooth Fairy's rounds, so it's now tucked safely under her pillow for tonight. Finally I don't have to see that loose tooth anymore! LOL

I'm Really Liking Martha Stewart Punches...

Happy Saturday! After the birthday party, I wandered back into my corner to make a couple more cards. As my post title says, I seem to be having an obsession with Martha Stewart punches. Maybe it's because Michaels now accepts 40% off coupons for her products. LOL I am trying to limit my obsession to those punches that are classic and can be used over and over again.

I told you the other day that I was in need of two thank you cards, but had only gotten the one done. Today I made the second one after I was inspired by this card from Faith Hofrichter, aka Markie's Mom, of the Stampin' With Markie's Mom blog. I love all the details she adds to her cards!

Here's my version:

 

I originally thought to use a different color for the heart and even embossed it with white for interest. Silly me forgot that stamping over an embossed image acts more as a resist than getting a clean image. That attempt went into the trash can. LOL So I thought a bit more and remembered this beautiful dp from Close To My Heart's Heart of Winter promotion a year or so ago called Promise of Spring and decided to use that instead. I love the serene feel I get from this paper.  The swirly leaves image is from a set of See D's that I picked up a long time ago...maybe from Archiver's? Anyway the brand is Inque Boutique and I think they sell some of the stamps at Hobby Lobby these days. They are rubber stamps, but they cling to acrylic blocks and the side that clings has the image on the rubber so you can see where your image is going. This set is called Memoirs 50787. I tried to find a link to the website, but it appears to no longer be online. I found a blog where the author says the company was sold and she's no longer affiliated with the company. Sad. See the butterflies and little hydrangea flowers? Those are Martha Stewart punches. The punches I used have three of the image that gets punched out. More bang for your punch! LOL I didn't have any black rhinestones (gasp, I know!), so I used Martha Stewart glitter, or rather I should say, I attempted to use the glitter and some glue. It was kind of messy and glitter ended up every where. I don't love the look I got, but I don't hate it either. I think I need to find some black rhinestones! hee, hee.

Anyway, I added some ribbon that I picked up at Michaels over the holiday season and I ran a piece of Bamboo cardstock through the Forest Branches embossing folder to get that texture you see. Thanks so much is from Papertrey Ink's Mixed Messages set.

So there's that card...this next one has been meandering through my head for a couple of weeks and I finally decided to play with the idea. I love the layered daisy look and there's a nice MS punch! Well, actually I saw some 3-D daisy stickers (by Martha Stewart) that were different colors. What really attracted me was the glittery centers on some of those stickers. So here's my attempt to get a card idea out of my head.

I knew I wanted to make the daisies with a bit of (Sunkiss) Yellow ink and I knew I wanted to use the Swiss Dots embossing folder on white cardstock. I punched small circles in Sunkiss Yellow cs (CTMH) and added Yellow Stickles. I used a large stylus over the backside of the circles (before I added the Stickles) to get the centers to curve a bit and I added them with little pop dots. THEN I added the Stickles. LOL The ribbon is light yellow (which is harder to see than I thought it would be). The plaid paper is from the Spring Matstack by DCWV. I used a little trimmed off piece under the ribbon for added interest.

I like it and look forward to making more daisies of different sizes.

Grateful Elegance Thank You Card

Happy Tuesday to you! I hope today finds you happy and inspired.

I wandered into my corner today to make a thank you card. I need to make a second one, but only got the one done today. I am happy with how this one came out. I was inspired by this card created by Julee Tilman on Poetic Artistry. I don't own the particular set she used, so I improvised a little (okay a lot) by using Grateful Elegance from Verve Stamps.

I resized the card to be 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and I think I got a little bling happy, but it works, doesn't it? It's a pretty straight forward card. About the only thing that is hard to see is that the flowers on the front of the card are popped up with pop dots.

I stamped the flowers in Hollyhock ink, and then colored them in with a Baby Pink Marker. The main flower on the inside is the same and the other flowers are stamped in Baby Pink. I used a Martha Stewart edge punch for the lacy look and also used the Cuttlebug to emboss on the front of the card with the D'Vine and Forest Branches embossing folders.

Thanks for the great comments on the hat I was finally able to finish. I've been wanting to say to those of you who have commented that you have wanted to learn how to knit or crochet to Go For It! It's not that difficult, I promise. You may not even need to buy a book or video because I have come across so many videos from You Tube that show how to do stitches. There are lots of websites that offer free patterns. Google is your friend! I have had to Google how to do a bunch of different stitches and have found help on each and every one I needed. You can do it! My friend Nona just made me aware of this website called Knit Picks. You can buy products from Joann's online. Heck, even Walmart sells crochet hooks and needles! If you have the desire to learn...you can do it! And it isn't all that expensive to start. I find it very relaxing in the evening to work on a project (well, except for the pattern that was incorrect, but that doesn't happen too often).  Anyway, I encourage you to take that step toward learning if you are inclined to. You will be so happy you did! Oh and if you need one on one help, maybe you can find some yarn shops in your neck of the woods and take a class. I know Joann's offers classes, even. Okay, off the soap box. I'm just having so much fun these days, I want to share the feeling!
