Channeling My "Inner Kay" :) Hey Gillfriend!

Hi There!

I've got a card to share with you today that was completely cased from my good friend Kay Miller. Here's the one she made and below is my version. I can't ever hope to blend as well as she does, but I did try to channel my "inner Kay" as I created this. I got a huge assist from my stamping buddy, Jessica. :) She did all the coloring of the critters.   I think she did an awesome job.
I did the fussy cutting.
I thought I'd share that I listened to people who say if you watercolor something, don't immediately trash it if it doesn't work for the project you are working on. I had a background done for months that'd I'd keep seeing and thinking, should I trash this? Well, I never did and when I was working on this card, I wondered if I cut that piece up, would it look good as the sea water? I think it worked pretty well and it's finally used up. ;) And, while you can't tell in the photo, unless maybe it you enlarge it, the white piece is glittered cardstock. Adding the purple fish is my last attempt at doing something a bit different-even if it might be a fish that doesn't belong in the sea. It's my fantasy world and I think it'd be just fine. Ha, ha! The rest of the design is all her creative genius.

I also finished coloring the seahorse picture. Go me!

Now the tricky part is trying to decide what to work on next.
I have many books to choose from!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope you are having a wonderful day.

Hugs!

Go you, is right, Jeanne! Your coloring is downright masterful! And you have very successfully channeled your inner Kay with your wonderful sea scene! Go you for the second time for saving and finally using that watercolored "cast-off" in such a perfect way and for pulling out your artistic license with that sweet purple fishie!! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

Love your "gill-friend" card! Your sunset background is awesome and goes with your blue ocean very well! I too hold onto pieces that, at the time, I wasn't totally pleased with. It's a good feeling to find a use for them! Good job!

What an absolute darling card Jeanne. I just love the scene you created and you channeled your inner Kay very well -- your blending looks fabulous.

And hooray for not giving up on your water color piece -- looks great as the ocean in this scene.

And your coloring book page is so much fun -- so many details in that page.

Oooooh I am so sorry I'm late leaving a comment for you on this most amazing blog post! First off thank you SO much for mentioning me with your sweet comments and secondly... I have to agree with all of the previous comments, you really did me proud! This is excellent my friend! How cool it is that you were able to use that watercolored background you saved! It looks like it was made for this card! And the addition of the little purple fish, well if I had thought of that, I'd have done it too! ;) Love it! Your coloring page is awesome and looks like it was a ton of fun! I really need to do some of that! Thanks again for mentioning me in your post! Made my day! ((Hugs))

JEANNE *waving wildly* I'm slow out of the commenting gate, but here I am, NOT frantic this morning, taking time to savour every. single. DELIGHTFUL detail on your 'gill friend' card. Yes, you cased sweet Kay, but YOUR special touches, as well as Jessica's, are certainly evident! The pelican and crab make me smile out loud, and the fishes frolicking in the waves are too cute, especially the one with the kissy lips! As for your blending...only awesome! And the 'rescue' of the blue piece to create water: great save! I should have kept all my epic failures, too; then again, I don't know where I'd be storing the mountain of discards! Your seahorses...oh my! Work of art! The pinks/yellows/purple are a stunning 'companion contrast' to the blues/greens. WOW! Looking forward to the colouring page that next catches your eye..and magic of your pencil tips! THANK YOU again for your visits to my blog; I do a little happy dance every time your name pops up! You are a treasure!!
Hugs and love~c
