Meet Lily Witch

Sometimes I wonder why I like to watch football, especially after a game like today's Broncos game where they were beaten soundly by the Ravens. :(

But then, watching the game gives me dedicated time to work on my handwork projects and I was able to finish a crochet project today whose pattern came through my inbox from the Lily Sugar 'n Cream newsletter last week.

I thought this project was super cute and felt sure I'd be able to find a couple of the colors of Lily Sugar 'n Cream I needed with no problem. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the two colors of that particular yarn that I needed, but I had plenty of my stand-by, Red Heart Super Saver yarn for the project. I did pick up a skein of Loops and Threads yarn because the color of green I found seemed to fit perfectly for the project.

Meet Lily Witch:
She's not too scary and wears a great little black dress complete with scallops on the hem and the sleeves. Her metal cauldron was found at the thrift store yesterday and is filled with magical multicolored pom-poms. Her transportation of choice is the broom you see her holding, and those hemp bristles boast high zooming speeds when necessary.
The straps on the shoes is a detail I wouldn't have expected.
It took a little effort to get the bristles attached to the broom, but I like the end effect.
Trying to show the detail on the bottom of the dress, but it's hard to photograph black.

This hat wasn't in the pattern. I'm proud to say, I played around last night and created it myself. Go, me!
*Ü*

I've never done doll hair before. I saved it for last and it took me a while to get it to lay flat (or as flat as it was going to) for the pony tails after sewing it to the head. Let's say, it's a good thing I figured out the hat, as she really needs one. LOL If there are any tips for doing this, I don't know them and I have huge respect for the patience of those who may routinely add yarn hair to their dolls.

In the end, though, I'm really pleased with the end result of this project and the girls love it, too.
Yay!

I'm already working on another project...there's another football game on and it's rainy outside...a perfect combination for lots of crocheting!

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I hope you are enjoying your Sunday!

Jeanne,

I love your witch and do love the detail of the shoes and the hat that you designed for her. I know what you mean about photographing black, because I'm working on something black now and have had a real hard time getting a good picture. Have a great week.

Hugs,
Tamara

WOW Jeanne, Lily looks great. I'm glad you could use the time during the game to make her so that your time wasn't a huge collasal waste of time watching the not so great Broncos. When oh when are they going to get it together?

Hi Jeanne,
I just wanted to say thanks for stopping by this morning and leaving such a sweet comment about Coretta! She is a personal friend of mine, so I was glad to see that you were excited about her tatting. This witch could quite possibly be the cutest thing I have ever seen. She is adorable! Fantastic job!!!
