Thinking of You and Just Because Cards...

Hi There!

Since today is World Card Making Day, I thought it would be fun to actually make a card or two.

I was inspired by a couple of cards I saw on a couple of different blogs this morning.

First up, I saw this card by nitestamper/ Chat on Me, My Stamps and I  and I thought it was just beautiful. Apparently, she cased another stamper to create the card. Isn't that fun? I love how we can all inspire each other.
Needless to say, I don't own the stamps used for the inspiration card, but I had fun finding items in my stash to create my version of  the beautiful card. The stamp I used is a Hero Arts cling stamp (positioned to fit-part of the image is stamped off the side) and I chose to use Outdoor Denim ink (CTMH). You probably can't tell, but the butterfly is stamped in OD ink with a little section of the Hero Arts stamp. To create the mat for the Thinking of You sentiment, I flipped over the Labels One Nestability and traced it onto Outdoor Denim cardstock and then just cut it out. The next size up of that die was going to be too large, in my opinion, and I thought tracing the die would be better than my attempts to free hand cut. The sentiment is from a Verve stamp, Grateful Elegance, I think.

I really like the use of buttons I keep seeing on various cards. When I saw this one by Lynn at The Queen's Scene  I knew I wanted to try my hand at recreating it.
I first tried stamping a tree, like Lynn did, but the tree stamp I have that would work was just too small. Then I remembered seeing a die cut of a tree on the Cindy Loo cartridge for my Cricut. This is a neat image because you can cut one piece out in green, then cut the other piece in brown and layer them together. Fun, fun, fun! I got a ton of those little red buttons in that bag of vintage buttons I bought at the thrift store a few weeks ago. I'm tickled to have finally used some. Believe me, I could probably put a red button on each card I make for the rest of my life and still not run out. LOL
I didn't feel like pulling out the sewing machine, so I grabbed a white pen and pen stitched. Hmmmm, maybe I should take the time to pull out the sewing machine, huh? LOL Oh well, I don't want to get too perfectionistic and I really enjoyed creating this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I really appreciate your visits and the lovely comments you leave encouraging me in my efforts.

Oh, Jeanne, BOTH of your cards are sooooo lovely!! Completely different styles, and both so crisp and striking! I'm so glad to see you're making cards again, my friend. ;)

Your first card is so elegant --love the contrast of the Denim Blue with the white, the scalloped border with tiny pearls, the dry embossing, and your sweet little butterfly on the sentiment piece. Just lovely!

And your second card, oh my! What can I say?! I LOVE that die-cut tree, the cute little buttons as apples, the gingham --ya know, I think everything's better with gingham! lol-- and you did a great job with your pen stitching too! This darling card just says CHEERY all over it!

big hugs,
Christi
