A Couple of Cards...

Hi There!

I decided to play today instead of doing much work around the house.
To start off with, I ended up pulling out a knitting project I was working on. In some ways that is frustrating, but I wasn't completely feeling the project anyway, so I think it was better to undo it and start again. So, I worked on that for a while.

I knew I wanted to try to make some cards today, especially one like this one seen here on the Everyday Cricut blog. I was excited because I actually own that cartridge. And I can always use inspiration on using the die cuts to their best advantage. I was all set to use a different paper, but couldn't find any that I liked more than the inspiration card, so I broke down and ran over to Joann's to pick up the paper. I don't have much for Fall in my papers, other than the other Fall DCWV matstack from a couple of years ago. I looked first. I don't know why I don't have more as I love the colors, but I liked a lot of the designs in the Amber Autumn matstack, so I think I'll challenge myself to use up a bunch of it.

Anyway, I didn't fork over the money for the big 12 x 12 stack, just the littler cardmaking sized one. So, the orientation of the paper used in my inspiration card is different. That's okay with me. I really like how it turned out this way, too. There wasn't really any space for a sentiment, so I left it off.
Not much to say except I layered the piece and ran the pieces through a xyron to make it easier to adhere together. I also pop dotted the piece to give it a little dimension. While I didn't take a picture, the inside is decorated with some leftover scraps/strips.

This next card was inspired by this one on Moralia's blog. I thought it was so dang cute and I also own the Doodlecharms cartridge. I had fun picking out papers from the Amber Autumn matstack to layer. I decided not to break out the sewing machine because I was running a bit short on time and I had created quite the mess from the first card, I would have had to clean up a bit first to have a spot for the sewing machine. It looks a little plain though, so maybe I should have done something to dress up those stripes of paper a little.

Something fun on this card is a spritz or two of Glimmer Mist (iridescent gold) on the pumpkin. It's been a while since I've used it and you can see a couple of globs, but it still looks okay, right? The boo! was cut using the Sans Serif cartridge. (Yep, I was giving the Cricut a workout today...it was a lot of fun) and the leaves are punched and sponge inked on the edges with Goldrush (CTMH) ink.

I'm so glad to have discovered some blogs that showcase cards using the Cricut (although most Cricut users seem to have upgraded to the Expression, and I have the original baby size). I never really noticed this adorable pumpkin before and I probably would not have used the above cut so nicely either. Reminds me that I should go check out the Cricut message boards/gallery for more ideas.

Thanks for the lovely compliments on the house decorating. I have to share that after I said no one really notices around here, both Amy and Jessica noticed the fun wreath and the Fall frames as well as a garland of leaves I pinned up on our large picture window valances. I guess they are a bit more observant than I thought. hee, hee

Hope you have a wonderful weekend in your neck of the woods.

Darling cards!! I love the gold spritzing - it's supposed to look random you know! Especially on a pumpkin! LOL

I'm glad the girls noticed - they are so sweet and I know they enjoy the loving home you so carefully create . . . it's nice they mention it, too! Must get that niceness from you.

Hugs!

These cards are wonderful too! ;) You did a great job duplicating the pattern on the paper with your Cricut image, and your Cricut pumpkin is sooooo sweet (especially with the glimmery spritzed on it...she's a glamourous punkin head -lol)!

(I have the original Cricut too, though have only used it ONCE...I do have it sitting out now so hopefully it will find its way into my projects a little more often.)

Glad the girls appreciate all the decorating you do each season. I'm sure your home is always warm and welcoming...not to mention festive! ;)

big hugs,
Christi

I am loving the fact that you're creating cards right now. The first one is just beautiful. I love the focal piece on that one, it is just gorgeous with the paper you've chosen. The second card made me smile. That pumpkin is adorable!

Love the cards!! The 'Boo' is so cute over the leafes. So glad you're enjoying your Cricut. If you ever decide to upgrade to the Expressions. You could always try to sell your baby on craigslist. I did that about 2 years ago and bought the E.
Just a thought... You know how we like to "enable" our friends. ;)

Have a Wonderful Day my friend!

Very nice cards, my friend! Your "baby" Cricut served you well. Mine would, too, if I were to plug it in. LOL.
