Total Splurge Today...But Oh So Worth It!

I went to Michael's innocently enough. I was armed with a 50% off coupon that expired today. I wanted to find a particular border punch, but didn't have any luck. I did find another punch that I really liked.

When I was at the check-out counter I glanced over at the cage they have for the Cricut cartridges. They are on sale this week, half off. I never expected to see a newly released cartridge called Paper Lace. I'd just read about it in a Cricut newsletter last Wednesday or Thursday. Well, to my surprise, they had it in stock. So, I asked if they would let me look at the box to see the images on the cartridge. They did. I looked. And got right back in line to buy the cartridge. Yes, I did. I could have asked for it for Christmas, but you know what? I have a feeling that by the time anyone got around to looking for it, it would be sold out.

When I got home and opened up the package to look through the booklet showing what was included, I was thrilled to pieces! There are two lace images per key, plus borders, plus an alpha, plus some word art. Oh my goodness! I was giddy! It was SO worth the splurge in my opinion. I know I will have fun using it over and over again.

Here's my first cut from the cartridge:
Isn't is neat?! This is the one image that sold me on the cartridge.

And then, with the little bitty cut out pieces, I did this:
I carefully taped down the cut out onto my cardstock and then glued each piece in place
through the openings.
I know.
I'm nuts.
But it's oddly relaxing for me to do something like this.
Unless I lose a piece.
Which I thought I did.
Argghhh.
I saw down after frantically searching for a few minutes
and there was the missing piece.
Whew.

I'm sure someone else would dress this up phenomenally, but I was so eager to play, simple is what I got. And these are just card fronts...they aren't even attached to a card.

Confession time.
Don't look too close (yeah, I know you will now) or you'll see that I cut out the design and adhered it to a new piece of cardstock. I did that because I got the bright idea  (not) to trace around the big cut piece. And in theory it would have worked just fine. IF I had taken the time to look for my black micro pen. Which I didn't. I settled for a fine line Sharpie. Big mistake. HUGE. It looked awful. Horrible even. But after taking the time to glue down all those pieces, I wasn't going to trash it. So I carefully cut just inside the Sharpie line.
It looks better. Not great, but definitely better. Lesson learned!

If you have a Cricut you just might want to head to your Michael's and see if they have this cartridge in stock. I think it's THAT good.
But that's just my humble opinion.
Don't complain to me if you see it and wonder...
what the heck is she thinking?

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope your week is off to a great start.

Hey Jeanne, what a great card. I've been hearing some good things about that cartridge. It's definitely on my wish list.

I'm so glad you splurged and treated yourself. You definitely deserve it.

I can't wait to see what else you come up with using this fabby cartridge.

So, how about our broncos being 2 and 6? So out of the last 16 games they've played, they've won 4. What on earth is going on? The insanity of it all. :)

Ooooh, that image would have sold me on it as well! Amazing what an innocent little trip to Michael's will do to you! LOL! I'm glad you were inspired to play!

Thank you as well for the calendar link...very cool! I'm getting ready to start creating a few more calendars as soon as I get this photo shoot edited. I really really want to play...

Wow, Jeanne! This looks like a great buy! I love your cards and can't believe you used both the positive and the negative. Love the simple and elegant look of the black and white. Awesome!

I think it was a good idea to get it before Christmas. You need to spoil yourself some times.

Jeanne,
I hate to be an enabler, but you know that you really deserved this splurge! You have worked SO hard for SO long at saving every penny. The joy I hear in your story, and the beauty of your projects tells me that you really connected with this purchase. When it's something that wonderful - it doesn't really matter what it cost (in my humble opinion!)

Hugs, I'm so happy for you dear friend!!

Awesome cards, my friend! Clean and simple elegance - right up my alley.

That cartridge - I checked it out -looks like a winner. I'm glad you got it. Cricut seems to be turning out great designs quite frequently these days. I still need to find that Mother's Day cartridge you showed a while ago.

Loved your confession. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who screws up occasionally. Or maybe frequently would have been a better word. LOL.

Have a good week, friend!!
