Urban Prairie Hi Card

Happy, happy Friday to you! Yea, the weekend is here! I hope it's a good one for you.

Today I have a card for you that was inspired by this one made by Jackie Pedro of The Scalloped Edge blog. I really liked how the blue looked with the pattern and all the texture. So, I cased it (big surprise, huh?).

As you can see, the design is the same, although I did add some punched fronds from a Martha Stewart punch. I don't have the neat shaped Nestabilities, so I just used good ol' squares, but I inked the edges! To color in the flowers, I did something I rarely ever do (because I am sooooo bad at it). I pulled out my water brush and swiped it on the ink pad lid to pick up the color and....gasp....colored in the petals! Then, so you can't see the streaks in the coloring, I added some Angel Wings White Shimmerz paint. LOL I cut out the flowers and popped them up with some pop dots. Another pretty straightforward card, but I just LOVE the colors!

Creative-Supplies-Blog

Papers: Urban Prairie (Basic Grey), Ocean, Sweet Leaf (CTMH), white
Inks: Ocean, Sweet Leaf (CTMH)
Stamps: For Every Occasion (CTMH), Grateful Elegance (Verve Stamps)
Accessories: Cuttlebug w/Swiss Dots, jewels (Hobby Lobby), Frond punch (Martha Stewart), ribbon (my stash...probably Michaels), pop dots, sponge for inking edges

With no big plans this weekend, other than to head over to Archiver's for their Make and Take special, I hope I can create up a storm on one thing or another. Jess and I went to Joann's this morning (because she wanted to go to the Dollar Tree next door and we always go to J's first). As we meandered the yarn department, she spied a pattern book with Wubbzy on the cover. If you are not familiar, he's a character from a Nick Jr. show called Wow! Wow! Wubbzy. This pattern book has patterns to crochet a Wubbzy, Widget and Walden. Guess what came home with us? Go on...guess! And guess what the girls want me to work on right now? Sigh...they are so fickle! LOL So, maybe I'll start one of those. Or maybe I'll finish the owl I've been working on, or maybe the next dress for Barbie...or maybe all of them will get some attention. Who knows! I'll have fun no matter what, though.

Have a great night! Thanks for stopping by!
Jeanne

Jeanne, you have an amazing ability to focus in on the details of creativity and patiently create something perfect! I love the card. But even more, I love the Barbie clothes you've been making. It reminds me so much of making (trying to make) Barbie clothes when I was a kid, and sewing away on a sewing machine, trying to create tiny, little details. But yours look far, far better than anything I ever came up with! Your daughters are lucky to have such a creative, dedicated mom.

LOVE your card, Jeanne. The colors are very pretty and that shimmerz is really sparkle-y. Gotta get some of that! Very nice. Sounds like you're going to be busy with yarn again...can't wait to see the finished projects.

Gorgeous card! Love that Urban Prairie paper and that stamp set. As for the Martha Stewart punch I haven't seen before ... sigh ... I need to save my pennies and make a trip to Michael's. AND when I the saw Wubbzy pattern book, I almost ordered it. I am familiar with him and have a couple of little boys who love him. He's pretty darned cute. Maybe this Granny should reteach herself to crochet. Thanks for sharing all you do. It inspires me more than you know.

I love your card --CASEd or not, it's beautiful! I can't see all the details, but can't imagine you having to hide your coloring! And flower petals often have 'streaks' of color, so no need to stress. ;) I love the shimmery-ness of the flowers, and I love the blue with that dp (that's such a pretty dp but have found the colors a little harder to coordinate than I'd anticipated), and beautiful ribbon treatment!

Your girls are so blessed that you can and, more importantly, willingly and lovingly take the time to create such fun things for them to play with and love. I'm sure, years from now, they'll cherish what you're doing for them, just as you cherish your special memories of your mom.
