This photo is one of Amy taken last night when I was chatting with Erin. I was telling Erin I felt crowded in my corner and snapped this pic to show her why...
Yesterday, Amy complained of a headache off and on during the day. She didn't want any medicine though. She didn't eat all that great, but she played pretty well and seemed almost normal. When she came out to me at about 10pm to tell me she wanted to snuggle with me, I knew she wasn't feeling well. Amy usually sleeps through the night. We snuggled for a bit and she finally consented to taking some ibuprofen as she had a slight temperature. She went back to bed fine and hopped up this morning saying she felt good. She was her perky self. I told her if she didn't feel well to go to the nurse. I thought we were doing well when I didn't get a phone call.
The moment she saw me after school, she burst into tears. This is so not like her! She clung to me for a few minutes and said she wanted to go home. Another atypical response from her. When we got home, I knew why...her temp was 103.5! That's when I took the second photo...about 3 this afternoon.
Because this was so not normal for her, I called the doctor and we got a 4:30 appointment. They determined she has strep throat. However, it must be in the early stages as her throat isn't very red, nor are her tonsils swollen. She sounds like she has phlegm in her throat, but says it doesn't hurt...she keeps saying her head hurts, though. Her temp has climbed up again, but she's had a tepid bath and more ibuprofen. I hope she'll soon fall asleep and stay that way all night. We shall see. She'll be at home with me tomorrow. Poor Jessica had to skip her swim lesson because she was at the doctor with us. She took it well though.
Now I hopeAmy bounces back quickly (since it wasn't too bad) and that Jessica doesn't get it! Sigh...
Take care of yourself. I hear this is going around...

Poor little thing! I'm sure her head was pounding from the fever. I hate it when kids are sick. It was the part of parenting I didn't like - still don't! While you're taking care of her, take care of you!!!
I echo Kathi's comment. I hope your little one gets better real soon... Kids have a way of bouncing back, we adults take a bit longer. So...take care of YOU, too.
AWWW poor little peanut. My Amy gets strep all the time, it really brings them down. Hope she feels better soon.
Awww, the poor baby! I hate it when they get sick! Give her lots of fluids, actually chicken soup really helps, I know it sounds odd, but it does. It's amazing how kids always bring the worst stuff home
I hope Amy feels better soon! I see she likes the giraffe by her when she is sick. That is my fav too! Great pic of her with all her friends you have made.
