Sketch Challenge from Erin at Inky Smiles

Erin G. and I have been chatting a lot recently and I love it! We were chatting earlier today and I told her I wanted to work on a card, but felt mojo-less. She reminded me that she had just posted a sketch challenge and I should try it. With the challenge issued, I did my best and here's the result:100_5156

I have to tell you about the dp...which is Basic Grey's Urban Prairie (12 x 12 size) from Michaels. I picked it up a while ago when they had all their paper packs on sale for 40% off. When the gal scanned it, it came up as unknown. So, she called someone for a price-check. I told her it was in the scrapbooking area where the paper was on sale. They were pretty busy and I felt bad for the couple behind me who were a bit antsy to be on their way. Well, we waited and waited and waited and I was going to tell the girl to just forget it. The one who was checking the item finally came back and said...I can't find it anywhere how does $5 sound? Ummmm...I'll take it!Open-mouthed I felt a teensy bit bad, but I DID try to tell her the price and that it was on sale. I must have picked up the last one at the time.

Now, onto the card, the only thing I think I changed on the sketch is the placement of the patterned vs. the solid paper. On another trip to Michaels, (it helps that it is about 5 minutes from where I live and right next to SuperTarget, so I'm often in the area) I wandered into the bead/jewelry making aisle and found a package of these medallion looking pieces. I immediately thought they would look neat if I attached them to a card using ribbon and this was my inspiration for making the card. I had to work with that one thing and the rest of the card evolved from there. LOL So, first I pulled out the Kraft paper and then the Urban Prairie paper. I loved the butterflies on this one. The blue and green paper are also in this stack which helps when you want it to coordinate (Wink). I knew I wanted to use a butterfly stamp, but that Basic Grey one I just got was too big. I wondered what it would look like to use a Verve butterfly image on the dp. So I inked it up in Indian Corn Blue (CTMH) and tried. I liked it! Then I cut them out and attached with a glue dot. I added some jewels (from Hobby Lobby in their jewelry section).

I thank you, Erin for igniting my mojo with this sketch...hope I did it justice! If you want to see the card in more detail, click on the image.

Stuff I Used:
Stamps: Fluttering By (Verve Visual)

Paper: Urban Prairie (Basic Grey), Kraft (from Archiver's)

Ink: Indian Corn Blue (CTMH)

Accessories: jewels (Hobby Lobby), medallion (Michaels) Summer Sunrise ribbon(Papertrey Ink)

I've got another card to share, but I'll do it in a separate post.

Thanks for stopping by!

I thought your card was so pretty, I used the same stamps for the same sketch. As for that Basic Grey stamp, I found it and ordered it. Your fault. LOL.
