Let the Clean Out Begin….

I decided that I really wanted to start on a big purge in the craft room. The house was looking decent, so I headed out there this morning. I’m feeling overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I have that I don’t ever touch. I want to scale things down and hopefully feel more creative.

I decided to start here:

Actually, I had started a bit before I remembered to get my camera. See that middle shelf area? That was full of old CTMH kits. It was fun reminiscing about the fun I had as a consultant but several of the kits are no longer my style. So, the ones I don’t really love are leaving my space, whether to be donated some where or sold, I haven’t fully decided yet. I like the idea of a little extra cash, but I don’t like the work involved in selling stuff. We’ll see which wins out in the end.

I was out there for a few hours and managed to get this far before I had to quit:

It may not seem like a lot, but I’ve already got a couple of trash bags full of, well, trash, and a rather tall stack of pattern paper I don’t love anymore. You may notice, I am not sharing the state of the floor right now. LOL It feels good to have started and I hope I don’t get too discouraged before I’m finished.

I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get this posted as my computer is randomly shutting down. I was out last night and when I woke up this morning and sat down to do my blog reading, my computer was off. I thought maybe Steve had turned it off and just started it up. Well, after my purging spree this morning, I made a sandwich for lunch and sat down to check emails and the computer was off again. Being that I was out in the garage, I hadn’t used the computer for a while. I tried to start it up, but it wouldn’t. So, I went onto another computer to email Steve and let him know. He called me right away, and while on the phone with him, I got it to start. Then went to clean up before picking up the girls. About 10 minutes later I checked the computer and it was off again. I’m thinking the power supply is going out. Of course, when Steve got home from work, he fired it up right away and it’s not turning itself off. grrrrr Isn’t that always the way?!

My last totally random thought is … I want a Wii! I never “got” the appeal before, but now I do! Sigh…

I’ll sign off before my computer decided to turn off mid sentence.

Have a good one! Thanks for stopping by and reading my ramblings.

Jeanne

OK SELL your stuff and buy a Wii!!! I am telling you even my MOM loves the Wii fit..and after trying ours she went and bought one in the UK. Not that I am comparing you to my Mom or anything.
Seriously post pics on your blog and see what happens.
I LOVE those wire racks you have your papers in!
I think if I never bought another crafting supply (apart from tape and glue) I think i could craft until I was 90 and never run out of stuff...I have SO MUCH! And I am fairly new to this. Can we say addiction.
Take care Jeanne!

I hear ya about the old CTMH stuff. I'm gradually purging it and donating (or giving away). I HAVE to get it out; I don't want it sticking around waiting for me to sell it. I do think I have four kits left - stuff that I have a purpose for and projects I'm in the middle of - and all of my CS I still have too. I purged a lot before I moved this past summer.

I'm glad you were able to start tackling your craft area. I'm sure whatever you decide to do with your old items, somebody will love them.

Sorry to hear about your computer problems. Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

To sell or not to sell. I've got tons of stuff, too.

You would love the Wii. The girls and Steve would love it, too. Bjorn is a Wii whiz! The games he plays require a lot more than pushing buttons - strategy, a lot of thinking, and memory. While hours and hours of it wouldn't be good, I can't see how an hour once in a while can be harmful.

Back to your purging - good for you. Maybe you'll inspire your pal up north. LOL.

Enjoy Friday!!

Wow, you are setting a good example again :) I need to do the same thing, although I really don't use any of my stash anymore, digi has taken over
As for the Wii, it's really cool. I just had a session with my fitness trainer, really neat stuff and I can actually feel my abs from yesterday!

Okay, I too discovered the appeal of the Wii when playing at my sister's house at Christmas. We actually used a few gift certificates we had to pick one up a week or so ago. My teenagers are adicted, and I'm hoping to buy the Wii Fit add-on as soon as it is back in stock around here.

Also, good job on tackling the paper stash, I find that the hardest part of purge. I like how I have it organized, I just have too much of it.

Oh I know exactly how you feel girlfriend! I've been working on my room for a week now and counting... lol What a job this has become and now I'm thinking I want to paint the room. Am I crazy or what? Good luck with the purge!

OH I hope you can get a Wii. It is soo fun, we play it a lot here!!
Yeah, I've got a lot of older CTMH papers too. Haven't parted with any of it yet. I think I'm a hoarder. hahaha
Great organizing and down sizing!

Have a great weekend my friend!!

I agree with Sarah...sell your "stuff" and buy a Wii! Try Craig's List.

You are still a cleaning machine. I know what you mean about having sooo much and still buy more. ADDICTED! Good for you to go through supplies you don't need anymore. Someone will want them...sell, BABY, sell!
