Being the scrapbooking mommy I am, I took my camera to the preschool this morning, in hopes of capturing some decent shots of the new little chick(s). One of the teachers took the chick out (without my asking) so that I could try to get a good picture. The teachers have named them Peanut (yellow one) and Juanita (dark one)
Peanut is a hungry little chick! They are feeding it the yolk of a hard-boiled egg, with some dirt/sand mixed in. Yea, I'm feeling a little weird about the egg part...
Jessica is fascinated!
This is little Juanita! It is hard to get a picture with no flash, and the overhead lights reflect on the plastic cover of the incubator. Her tush is yellow, which is interesting. Unfortunately, the teachers think the third one didn't make it. It apparently hadn't moved since the director arrived at 7:30ish this morning. She told me that even if they helped it out of the egg, it probably wouldn't have survived anyway. Just the way it goes, sometimes.
Anyway, just thought I'd share. I think this whole process is utterly fascinating! Being a city-bred girl, I've never had the opportunity to see something like this "up close."

Sweet babies! I can't wait to see what you do with the photos. It will be a great story. TFS.
Little chicks are so cute! Great pictures. Makes me want to hold them.
Love how focused Jessica looks in the photo.
Your story about the one that may not have survived even with help has reminded me to find a verse I was given about helping a butterfly out of the cocoon and as a result the butterfly could never fly. It was called "Gods plan". If I find it I will send it to you.
