Petals & Stems Birthday Card

I caught up on the laundry...why is it you have a gazillion loads when you return from a trip...straightened up a bit...cleaned the bathroom and then treated myself to some creating time. I bought some fun things over the weekend and do you know...I didn't use a single new item on this card??? What's up with that? I have no idea, but when I was perusing my stack of printed off card inspiration pages, this one from Dawn Easton's Treasure Oiler Designz blog struck me first...and I decided to use some Winnie's Walls paper and moved on from there. You'll notice the date of the post is from August, which shows how long my inspiration pages stick around (or how far behind I am on keeping up with the cards that I want to make)!100_4897

I had some scraps on my desk and decided to use the orange looking textured scrap to go with the dp. It's not a perfect match, but close enough...same color family maybe? I ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder. I added some Cranberry paper and ink to pull out that color in the flowers on the dp. I added the center using Garden Green ink. I sponged ink on all the edges and used Autumn Terracotta for the orange paper which is DCWV paper. The ribbon is Goldrush organdy. I put the square with the flower (which is an image from Verve's Petals & Stems set) down and by the time I finished working on the sentiment, it was popping up off the ribbon. So, I used pop dots to add a little dimension. I did use my new SU Word Window punch for the sentiment and the happy birthday is from Papertrey Ink's Birthday Basics set.

I think I mentioned all the products used, but just in case you don't know the Cranberry, Autumn Terracotta and Garden Green, Goldrush are all from CTMH. Oh and I just remembered, I pierced holes in the Cranberry & ribbon piece using my SU piercing mat.

Nothing spectacular in the card, I don't think, but not too bad considering I only had a short time to work on it before having to get the girls from school.

One of the stores I went to in Sioux Falls, The Stamper's Garden, I found out about through my friend, Kim B of Clearly Inspired. She was there over the summer and shared several pictures of cards from the store.  Once I found out we were going, I knew I wanted to check out the store! I took a few pictures myself and thought I'd share one today and maybe others when I fe100_4805el like blogging but don't have a project to share. I liked the lower card (which isn't a terrific picture, but I didn't want a flash glare) because I have that stamp set...one of those that really appealed to me when I saw it, had to buy it, then I didn't know what to do with it. This gave me a neat idea of how to use it. I think that upper card is pretty neat, too.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I feel better having crafted something.  I hope to get to use some of my new goodies really soon!

Til next time...

Jeanne
