Look at what arrived in the mail for me the other day!
My friend Kathi sent me the September Stamp of the Month (Treasure Life) from CTMH and the lovely card! I kept ooohhhing and awwwing over her creations using the set and they converted me from not being so much into silhouette stamps to wanting to play with them! Thank you SO very much, my sweet friend! And if you notice...they've been used! Ü
I did a search in my Google Reader for the term Treasure Life and a bunch of posts came up (the majority of which were Kathi's-I think you singlehandedly promoted that set to its popularity). Jessica and I wandered into my craft corner for a bit yesterday and here's what I came up with after pulling up my inspiration pieces.
This first one was inspired by this card made by Lisa of Lisa's Creative Corner. I'm not so great at the resist technique, but her card looks so soothing I had to try it. The only thing I changed are the color of ink for the sentiment (Moonstruck) and the addition of the ribbon. I followed her explanation of how she did the rest of the stamping.
Thanks for the inspiration Lisa!
This card of Kathi's just about took my breath away and now I can make it for myself! I did what she did, with the exception of adding some images to the other side. Now, it wasn't any artistic expression that prompted me to do this...the sole reason was one of my images rocked the block a bit and I got some brown on the card where it would be obvious. I needed to cover it up somehow. The added benefit of this is my card is just a bit different and so I didn't copy hers exactly...something I'm starting to feel a bit guilty about!
Here's the third card I managed to get done. I was inspired by this card from the Mommy Scraps blog. I really liked the color combo she used. Unfortunately I don't have all of those colors, since one is new since I left CTMH. I thumbed through the slab of My Mind's Eye paper that I got at Hobby Lobby and thought the stripes and solid blue-green worked well with the stamped image. I added some Ivory organdy ribbon around the striped piece for some dimension, but not so much that it overpowers the design. Thanks for the inspiration Tickle Me Pink (her screen name).
In addition to her color challenges, she shares some great paper scrapped layouts. Her girls are adorable!
I've been working on this post in fits and spurts. Jessica has wanted Mommy to snuggle with her quite a bit today, which is totally understandable and something I am happy to do. However, I'm getting an overdose of Sprout TV...so I sneak away for a few minutes when I can. LOL
Thanks again, Kathi! Unfortunately, if you don't own the September Stamp of the Month already, it's no longer available. I suspect though, it was popular enough that it will most likely show up in a future CTMH Idea Book.
Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully I'll be able to wander into my corner at some point this weekend...check back and see if I have. Ü

i haven't played with that stamp set too much yet...but know it'll soon become a fav
I tickled to see the stamp set is used. I like those acrylic stamps better once they're stained a bit. You're definitely doing this set justice, and I'm glad you're having fun with it. Your cards are beautiful. Again, hope Jessica's better soon.
Pretty, pretty, Jeanne! I received that stamp set with my last order and I am anxious to play with them. I love the cards you made today, the colors are lovely.
Your cards just blow me away - they are so good.
Hope Jessica is on the mend :-(
ALL of your cards using this stamp set are gorgeous, Jeanne! I've yet to use this set, but you can bet I will be after seeing your lovely creations. ;) tfs
